2009/5/31   Free Speech Day - June Fourth

Today I read that China has stepped up its Internet censorship in anticipation of the 20 year anniversary of Tiananmen Square on June 4th. A thoughtful reader on Slashdot, a popular technical news forum, suggested that the "internet crowd" make June 4 an official Free Speech Day. He suggests that every website post a small banner or comment regarding freedom of speech so that it is very difficult for government organizations to censor the comments without blocking most of the Internet.

As I am strongly in favor of this idea, I have shown my support by registering the domain name freespeechday.com and encourage any one willing to participate to share ideas for this new website on the support forums .

Thank you for your support. Happy Free Speech Day.
